A fast-paced chaotic mess of a book that is nevertheless hugely entertaining. However, I have to deduct quite a few points for the misogynistic and racist language. I know it was written in the 90s, that's still no excuse. You don't describe a woman's appearance and body like that all the time. Also, this thing he does of mocking his own main character by letting him think sarcastic descriptions of himself like "Mr Motivator" when he's just been anything but - it's a stupid habit and he should nip it in the bud.

Also, try to read the series in order if you can. I previously thought it wouldn't matter but this book introduces Greg Downing, a character whose name you'd do well to remember as he will crop up a few more times. And not in a good way. By reading book 12 before book 3 I knew more about the end than I should have. Still enjoyed it though, mind, especially as Win turns up so little that he almost doesn't find time to get on my nerves.

3.75

Suppose a 3.75 is fair. It was a nice easy read if nothing else and only took a few hours in total.

Was pleasant, not too intense like most others I have read. I would like to mention the N word hard R was a bit jarring to come across, as was the F slur ..... but I suppose .... it was of the times? Potentially?

Either way, the plot did have many twists but it wasn't so intense as you read along which makes it quite nice!!! But also if you look for an intense read then maybe this isn't the one for you.

Loved Win, thought he was a great addition and made me chuckle a lot, didn't really want to like him and thought I might hate him from his early sexism. Speaking of sexism, the book is kind of riddled with it. I shouldn't probably find it funny but there is a lot of talking about the size of the murder victims chest and it's weirdly quite hilarious how everyone knows who she is based on the fact she had a very large chest.
