I really liked that although this was inspired by Much Ado About Nothing, it wasn't a blow-by-blow retelling of the exact plot. Instead, it treats the reader to a couple of recognizably adapted scenes, and then moves on to become its own thing. This frees the story up and gives you the enjoyable reading experience of knowing what needs to happen but not being sure of how you're going to get there.

In this story, Elias and Edith are notorious for their arguments, to the point that when their friends feel compelled to play a prank on them, they decide to convince each that the other is in love. So far so good. But, fairly early on, Elias and Edith discover the joke and determine to turn the tables on their friends by pretend eloping. What could possibly go wrong?

This is a sweet and compelling read that also examines why someone might hesitate to believe in love even when it's offered (although you still might get a little impatient with Edith... I know I did!).

While the first book in the series was good, this book (second in the series) was my favorite with the third book almost a tie for favorite.

Definitely hope there are more in the series! Great dialogue, touched on some hard topics that have depth to the characters, character development and maturing occurred, and they were all clean reads! A great combo!

I really enjoyed this regency romance. Great storyline and characters. I always enjoy a good enemies to lovers and this story has that and so much more. I would definitely recommend this book and look forward to the next in the series

Good retelling

The main characters were very likable. I found their banter fun to read and their romance achingly sweet. An enemies to lovers story at its best

Fun and easy read

This was an enjoyable story. The couple was sweet and their banter was fun to read. I found I liked Elias’s character more than Edith.

Yes!!!

Okay, I must say the enemy to lover trope is my FAVORITE! Too stubborn to see what is PLAINLY there, and the tension... *internal screaming* AAAAAMAZING use of the anger and competitive natures to find a way to push them closer together!
I can’t wait to read the next book!
