This was a little too slow and drawn out for me. I usually love Dessens books but this was just did not capture me!

Another great read from Sarah Dessen. There is just something heartwarming about her books but they still have so many emotions floating through them

loved it!!!!

i love sarah dessen cause they're so calming and simple.
i always feel at peace. the same quiet main character looking for her brooding quiet boyfriend amidst family problems. i know and like this formula.

"Read her once and fall in love" the inside cover of the book said. I rolled my eyes and thought, we'll see about that. Throughout the entire book I was just in love. In love with the characters. In love with the setting. In love with the author. Seriously, this is the first book in a long while where I actually cared about the main character! Seriously. I love this book so much. I think I have found a new author to love. Does Dessen have a grocery list I could read? I think I need to read all of her books now.

This is, obviously, a reread. I don’t remember exactly when I read this for the first time. Freshman year of high school? A lifetime ago? I loved it then and oh my god I love it even more now. Macy is such a relatable protagonist and Wes truly is extraordinary and every character is so unique and well written. Delia is basically everything I want to be, so kind and maternal and able to handle everything. And there were definitely times I hated Macy’s mom, but Sarah Dessen is nothing if not excellent at writing characters, so she did a good job fixing that at the end. I can’t believe that I missed the fact that her Dads Christmas present to her was one of Wes’s sculptures. Did I burst into tears at 2:45 am reading that? Yes. I thought maybe The Rest of the Story would’ve replaced this as my favorite Sarah Dessen book, but really I don’t think anything can top this. I really love all her books so much, but this one is really just amazing. 5 stars aren’t enough.

This was my first Sarah Dessen book and although it was definitely not perfect, I really did enjoy it and would quite like to pick up some more of her books. I have been told that Just Listen is much better so I would be interested to see for myself how it compares as, from what I have read and heard of her, she seems to be a loved author of many but, I don't this book displayed her full potential. In my opinion, it was a really cute, funny read that was actually much deeper than I thought it was going to be. The emotions in this book were well captured, I loved Wes and, I thought it made a great summer read. However, I did find that it felt quite cliché, predictable and unrealistic which annoyed me at times. I still really enjoyed it though - a quick, fun and easy read for the holidays.

rereading it - definitely did not enjoy it as much
