Good weave of history, fiction and pre-romance and mystery. Student might be intrigued to study Shakespeare after reading this.
This is a great children's book with fun Shakespeare references and a satisfying historical mystery.
Delightfully weaving Shakespeare, literature, and Tudor history this YA was deeper than I expected
Wow. I really liked this book. So many twists and surprises! This is just my opinion, but Anna is a TERRIBLE daughter/mother/wife. Seriously?!? First of all, she is a foster child, so I felt bad for her. But then she was adopted! Yay! Happy ending right? nope. She finds parents who love her and raised her, but when she turns 17, she RUNS AWAY. What an ungrateful person! Then she gets married and has a baby, but she runs away from THEM to!! Poor Danny! Other then that, this book was awesome!
I remember reading this in elementary school and LOVING IT. Guess my love of Shakespeare started young.

I actually liked this a lot! The only setback I saw was that the ending was not solid. It was as if it should have gone on a bit more.

There is nothing cozier or more comforting to me than a middle grade mystery. Many moons ago, a teacher read this book aloud to my class in school, and it's stuck with me all this time. It was so fun to return to it not remembering all of the twists and turns. I love the historical aspects of the plot, the relationships that are built throughout, and the tender tone that comes with coming-of-age stories like this. I'd recommend it for a reader of any age.
Moderate: Abandonment
Minor: Torture, Violence
A very good, quick read. Very good characters, although there is some 'speed it up' factor, ex- Hero wouldn't have gotten teased so soon so much, I mean, they're in sixth grade, and Elise Broach had them acting like six-year-olds. Still, very satisfying.
