1.00/5 Words cannot describe how disappointed I am with this novel. The premise of it sounds interesting, a dystopian future where all books are banned, but has some of, if not the worst execution I have ever seen in a book.

This entire book, while already short, could’ve been reduced to a short story of about 10 pages. The author spends entire paragraphs describing trivial things like the wind against the protagonist’s shoulders. While this can help to enrich the world the book is set and make you feel as if you are a part of it, the sheer frequency the author does this is irritating and off-putting.

The plot I found to be boring, I was often forcing myself to read on and found it to be a chore. I felt absolutely no connection to the protagonist, it felt as if he was a plot device used by the author to move the story along.

In conclusion, good premise, poor characters, poor plot, and a book that is 90% fodder led me to give my first 1-star review of the year.
