Two of my favorite authors featured in Beneath Ceaseless Skies were paired together in this issue! Both stories are about queens and battles and the inheritance of power. While Aimee Ogden's "A Song for the Leadwood Tree" is the story of a warrior that at once reminded me of Lady Eboshi (Studio Ghibli's "Princess Mononoke") and the Kyoshi Warriors (Avatar: The Last Airbender), R.K. Duncan's "The Sweetest Fruit of Summer" is the story of a kidnapped/sacrificial princess but with an ending like something out of Game of Thrones.
