Ever since the Buchanan brothers were introduced, I love them more and more. Not only are they upstanding citizens who always do the right thing and treat all people with respect and kindness, they are also hilarious and sexy and fierce protectors of all…especially the people they fall in love with.

It scares me a little that I’ve started thinking like this author. Although I couldn’t figure out all the twists and turns that would happen, I had suspicions about certain characters that proved out. Is reading all of these bonkers stories convoluting my brain? Don’t worry, there are still many surprises and things that will make you gasp along the way.

Niels and Edith are amazing together and I enjoy how much Niels tries to be a gentleman and Edith has no idea of the amount of sway she holds over him. The things that happen on their wedding night had me in tears. Edith’s innocent attempt at being alluring and pleasuring her husband, Niels’ patience and shock at what Edith came up with, then the misunderstanding about what really happened that night. I was embarrassed for them all yet delighted with the way it all made me laugh so hard.

There was a point that I did feel the danger and mystery went on a bit too long, as much as I loved all of the other things happening. But this was another quick and fun read in the series.

2.5

I listened to the entire audiobook in a day. I was in the mood for a historical romance and this was one of the few available straight away from my library. It wasn't mindblowing and the two leads are pretty forgettable but there is a campy mystery full of twists to keep you engaged. It's more of a 2.5 star for me, especially with what happens on their wedding night (I did appreciate how well he handled it but wow what a disaster).
