This was fine, but for a gal who is trying to be sneaky, she is TERRIBLE at it. Like god dammit, girl. Watch ANY ACTION MOVIE. And I kind of didn't like anyone.

In a dark thriller of atmospheric proportions, Catherine McKenzie's Have You Seen Her leaves readers wanting more from this book.

Telling the story of three women whose lives become intertwined during a summer at Yosemite National Park, McKenzie is able to grab the readers attention from the very first page. Feeling as though you are right in the middle of Yosemite as the characters go through the summer and secrets from the past threaten to emerge. I personally liked how McKenzie utilized three different modes of writing (the actual text itself as well as diary entries and social media posts) to capture the development of Cassie, Petal, and Jada during the course of the book  as I feel it gives some more detailed insight on the backgrounds and character motivations that can give some explanation for their actions in the book.

Additionally, while I wasn't expecting that kind of twist near the end of the book, I could see how it made sense and proves McKenzie's strategic use of red herrings. I honestly didn't know where this book was going to end up and I had some suspicions on what was ultimately going to happen in the end (which I won't reveal because of spoilers), but I felt that McKenzie's surprise twist at the end works well for this book.

That being said, if you're looking for a thriller this fall with atmospheric settings or you're looking for a book similar to All Good People Here, you might enjoy reading Have You Seen Her
