Brilliant.
If you liked the fake snippets of Carry On in Fangirl, then read this!

Simon, Baz, Agatha, and Penny are all wizards starting their last year of magical school, while fighting against the HumDrum, which a mysterious source sucking away their powers. Simon and Baz are roommates, but end up falling in love. This started a little slow for me, but in the end I liked it because of the Baz and Simon relationship. I particularly liked Baz being very moody, but very into Simon :) I liked the multiple points of view and the magic, and the end was exciting. It was a little long, but I definitely want to continue in the series.

This is not really a book you read for a deep plot you read it for the comfort and the characters. And I very much recomend it for a lighthearted read with its darker moments especially towards the end. I hope the next book is as good as the first

It is filled with great, lovable characters such as: disaster, sour cherry scone loving chosen one who can’t control his magic; best friend who is done with her friends crap, but still loves and supports him anyway; girl who likes ex-boyfriends (who is still in love with her) arch-nemesis; and finally disturbed (not my word, his), depressed, suicidal (at times), self-loathing, dramatic, gay vampire
who is in love with the boy who is supposed to be his arch-nemesis.

I like this book, but it works better as a sequel. It’s a lot of showing “oh wow Baz and Simon don’t get on…oh man it sucks that Baz literally almost took your magic away…man it sucks that your relationship is super complicated…” hence why when Baz confesses to the audience it’s very jarring.

I’m expected to believe this character I just met is telling me that actually he’s been in love with Simon the whole time? Where?? It’s very half baked. I like the magic, I like the stories woven together, I like the final fight, I like Simon. I love the shade thrown at Dumbledore! but honestly it’s like being thrown in at the deep end. I wish this was a quadrilogy. But I’m not interested in Wayward Son or AWTWB so I guess this is where we part ways SnowBaz.
