Delightfully maniacal. Ralph is the most endearing spider I’ve ever read about. Perfect to dip your toe into if you don’t read horror.

this fun little novel might be a new fav of mine!

picked up on a whim because i was in the mood for a light but witchy read and this was exactly what i needed.

part chick lit, part supernatural horror (with a lil sprinkling of body horror), Cackle tells the story of a woman who gets dumped unceremoniously by her long-term boyfriend, moves to a small New England town, and finds a new bestie.

but as their friendship develops, she realises her new friend is a little witchy - and finds her own power.

I’ll definitely be picking up more books from Rachel Harrison, and this one will definitely get a re-read around Halloween!

This book was such an easy and amazing read. I would genuinely recommend this book to anyone who is in a transitionary period of their life or just feels stuck. I loved the platonic love is this book, it really made me want to hang out with my girl friends and move to a small quaint town. This book gets 5 stars with flying colors.

Oooooooh, what a quick and fun read! Who doesn’t love witches? The story was super cute, as we watch ‘just turned 30’ Annie attempt to restart her life after a breakup. Slowly, she learns to call the village of Rowan her home. She makes friends along the way, but is there something fishy going on with this Sophie woman the whole town seems to be afraid of…? I would recommend this book to anyone who feels sad, lost, or entirely too single. Its message was great and I loved every minute!

Final thoughts: you couldn’t pay me enough to have a pet spider.

“Is this how it happens? Is this how you make friends as an adult? You stumble upon someone wonderful, and all of a sudden, you’re close?”

“I will not meet him there. I will not shrink myself down to his size, or anyone else’s, for their comfort. For their appeasement.”

The back of the book sounds like it will be a queer romance. It is not.

I have found the perfect book (well, for me) for Spooky Season, and this is it.

Annie is a teacher who moves out of NYC after her boyfriend Sam breaks up with her; she move into a place in the picturesque, perfectly cozy autumnal New England town of Rowan; and she meets Sophie, a preternaturally youthful and elegant woman who commands power over the little town. I adore the way Harrison wrote Annie; she's relatable and sarcastic and, in her own way, empowering. Through Sophie, she discovers her own strength and learns to depend on herself rather than the other people in her life.

The prose is hilarious and biting with just enough horror to keep you on your toes. Pick it up before Spooky Season ends.
