As with most "thriller" type books, I tend to get disappointed if there isn't a last minute, jaw-dropping twist. This book was lacking that. And I guessed some of the twists. The solution to the mystery was still enough of a surprise that I'd recommend it.

Also I literally couldn't put it down, I went through about 200 pages last night and finished today. Great, quick read. And I absolutely adore Nate. And Cooper. And Addy. And Bronwyn. Basically, these characters are A-1.

Somewhere like 4.6 stars, but I Rounded up.
I loved the characters in this story, more than anything else. All of them were equal parts real and relatable. You could definitely sympathize with all of them. I loved their development, how they each learned to overcome the darker parts of themselves.
Secondly, this was a genius plot. It was super unpredictable and every twist had my jaw on the floor.
Not as good as AGGGTM, but those are big shoes to fill. Definitely a satisfying mystery.

I LOVED this book! It held my attention from the beginning and had great character arcs and storytelling. I loved the mix of The Breakfast Club, Gossip Girl, and various other cult classics. The end was a SHOCKING TWIST, but definitely fit into the story line. Can’t wait for the sequel!

3 stars. After 3 non-fiction books in a row, I was ready for some fluff, which probably helped my opinion of this one. The stereotypical tropes took away a bit from the characters as anything but a stereotype and while the book is leveled as YA, these high schoolers seem to have an awful lot of freedom & privilege as 17yr olds. [SPOiLER ALERT] I have a bit of an axe to grind with the title here since it's technically misleading. I recently read a thriller that kept me guessing throughout about who the killer was and at times, it felt like each character, while at others, none seemed viable. This book though, it never seemed like it was ever one of them, so I had a hard time "playing along" with the mystery knowing it was going to be revealed in some big twist at the end. I also really could've done without the Addy assault -- at that point in the storyline, I didn't need a graphic scene and it didn't fit with the villain's character to date. The epilogue was, as expected, a little too neatly tied for me, so that I kind of closed the book with an eyeroll. I see there's a sequel, but I'm not sure I'll pick it up.
