This book was The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars meets murder mystery. It was interesting that the death happened in front of the kids in high school detention, yet they didn’t even know all that was at play. More secrets and plots were revealed and no one knew who to trust. I liked that there were 4 main suspects that you learned more about, and yet they were all working together to figure out the foul play / what really happened. I was not expecting the ending! Overall a good read!

I do love a good murder mystery and this one had me guessing to the very end. I had no idea what was coming! There is your standard regular teenage swearing involved but it's nothing you don't hear in a regular high school lunch room. Read this one, don't listen to it. Too many characters going back and forth.

Okay so I read this book like five years ago and I thought I remembered a lot but apparently I remembered nothing. The mystery plot wasn’t as good as some others but it was still really good. I love the friendships and relationships and the character arcs that formed throughout this so much, even though this was kinda of an off brand Breakfast Club

This is a 3.5 rounded up. This book is about the mysterious death of a high school student named Simon, who runs a website where he posts his peers' secrets. The circumstances of his death wind up implicating the four other students who were in detention with him when he died. I don't know if I would call this book 'good' per se, but it was entertaining? This read like High School Musical meets Gossip Girl to me, in that the characters are very cliché and written as such (the jock! the bad boy! the overachiever! the outcast!) but there was some added drama (cheating, drugs, and murder accusations). The plot twist wasn't bad, but there were some ham-fisted red herrings along the way that didn't really land. I had a hard time rating this one, I feel like it deserves a 3, but I did enjoy reading it so I just couldn't.

I loved this book!! I wasn't expecting to like this that much, especially with the (at the first sight) stereotypical characters, but it turned out there was much more to them. I was also a bit scared because of all the hype around it, but turns out the hype was well-deserved! I adore all the main characters, they all changed so much through the story, I feel like a proud mom.

As for the plot, it was terrific. It had me on edge until the very end. I've been trying to guess who the murderer was from the beginning, and I've gone through a lot of suspects (everyone is suspicious!), but I didn't expect the ending.

More about the characters in the spoiler section:

Spoiler I loved Bronwyn and Nate together! I'm also really glad Addy realised that Jake was being way too controlling and I'm glad that she's refraining from dating at the moment. That girl needs no man! Talking about Jake, I was really surprised to see that he was in on this, but I'm also happy because I'd rather have that asshole in jail than any of the "murder club" kids. When Cooper first got the messages saying "hey handsome" and not reveling the gender of the person, I knew it had to be a guy. I was excited to see one of the characters be lgbt, definitely when it's such a popular book. (I still stand by the fact that he's bisexual, though, not gay, but that's just my opinion). And Kris! I was happy to see that he took part in the investigation too towards the end and he got to play a bigger part in the whole thing. I just love these characters so much :').

This was definitely the best book to read after my latest read (which almost had me leaving books alone for a while), because after this I'm excited to start the next books on my shelf.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who's in for a mystery with great characters!
