The first half of the book was predictable, but I was still intrigued. As we delved deeper into the lives of the two families things picked up. I think parts of this book portray every parent's worst nightmare. Finding out that you took the wrong kid home from the hospital is bad enough...but things get way more complicated than that. Poor Pete and Maddie just can't seem to catch a break. I have to say though that the ending was very satisfying.

Peter Riley doesn't know Miles Lambert until Miles turns up claiming that their 2 year old sons were switched at birth. Peters' son has some behavioural issues but Miles' son has very complex needs. An investigation ensues but what started off as polite soon turns nasty and the further into the investigation, the less likely it seems like an accident.
This is my first read of #septembersuspense and I am off to a good start! The further into the story I got, the more invested I became. It did seem a bit repetitive at times but overall, was an emotionally charged thriller with a killer plot twist.

3.5 ⭐️
I enjoyed this book. Was entertaining, and an easy read. The premise of it was interesting and something I wouldn’t normally read. Was written well, was believable, and the characters developed nicely, just didn’t get sucked in like I was hoping I would.
Also. Short chaps FTW. I ❤️ short chaps.

3.5 stars! What a wild ride, it took me a bit to get into it but then it was super fast to read. Loved the short chapters and multiple narrations.
Wow, what an intriguing story. I'm not interested in having children, and perhaps as a result don't read many books centered around child-rearing issues, as I find myself unable to relate. I found Maddie and Peter incredibly relatable, however, and found myself feeling for them throughout the book. Delaney showed great expertise in getting the reader to empathize with his characters, and rally with them against the 'villains'. The character progression was perfectly paced, as was the plot and storylines that led off of or were nearly completely separate from the main plot track. I thought Maddie's character showed a surprising amount of gained awareness at the end of the book that I would have expected Peter to have, which was a neat turn of events.
I will say that while I enjoyed the way the conclusion came up all of a sudden but resolved in the right way for the book, I still would have liked it to have been a bit more fleshed out. The ending lines were a bit of a cliched happy ending, but they fit in line with the story and characters and didn't feel forced for ratings or status quo.
Overall a great book which only took four days to read, but just didn't have that 'wow' factor that I look for in a book in order for me to give it five stars.

My first JP Delaney book and it did not disappoint!
Imagine finding out that your two year old baby isn’t actually yours?
The premise to this great story, where parents Pete and Maddie come up against Miles and Lucy in a tug of war for their children. There are so many twists and I didn’t expect that ending at all, a fast paced thriller which was a great escape for me.
I had two weird sliding door type experiences while reading this book, which really creeped me out. Too much of a coincidence. Won’t go into detail to avoid spoilers but they involved Arancini and surfing the web incognito.
