It took me almost half the book to get invested in the romance, but I was flying through the pages by the end.

I picked this up for the enby rep, but ended up liking Dahlia’s storyline more. If you ask me, she was the better written character out of the two.

That’s not to say I disliked London, I just couldn’t quite grasp what their personality was supposed to be like. Their characterization felt inconsistent to me.

The cooking show setting was fun & definitely my favourite part of the book. #TeamDahlia

Yeah I can't do this book as a vegan. I've read other cooking based rom-coms and there was just one too many eye rolls situations for me
  1. Eating fish/seafood is not vegetarian
  2. Cows are not 'dangerous' - no more so than a horse which is a similar sized animal
  3. Dairy farms do not milk cows by hand - describing it this way just perpetuates this fake reality that cows on dairy farms are 'happy' and not the reality that they are continually abused for their milk.
  4. Apparently if you don't like barbecue you're now a fascist (that was the last straw and I really don't care that it was a joke)

If you're looking for a rom-com with cooking and trans rep perhaps try Chef's Kiss (which has less eye roll food situations).

This was an amazing read! It was fun, emotional and fantastic all around. I loved the characters, the premise and the story itself.

It lost a quarter star for me due to really detailed descriptions of animal bodies and secretions. This may not bother others at all, but I found those passages tough to get through. YMMV.
