It took me almost half the book to get invested in the romance, but I was flying through the pages by the end.
I picked this up for the enby rep, but ended up liking Dahlia’s storyline more. If you ask me, she was the better written character out of the two.
That’s not to say I disliked London, I just couldn’t quite grasp what their personality was supposed to be like. Their characterization felt inconsistent to me.
The cooking show setting was fun & definitely my favourite part of the book. #TeamDahlia

I definitely enjoyed Love & Other Disasters. I do wish we had actually learned what horrible thing Lizzie said though! Both London and Dahlia were nice characters and had some decent personal growth. I appreciated most of the parts detailing London’s journey with their gender, but I do wish that we had gone a little more in depth into their self-discovery. I also liked the ultimatum they gave their dad at the end. Nice love story, somewhat relatable nonbinary character story, and delicious recipes I have to try!

I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley.
Overall I enjoyed the book, the characters were lovable at times but there seemed to be some things glossed over. I loved London however most of their character points seem to revolve around dealing with transphobia and although I am very glad the hateful comments were not actually mentioned in the book, I found London to be lacking in comparison to Dahlia. Their differences of economic status isn't discussed even though it does create problems. Additionally Dahlia seems to get away with a lot in terms of being rude at times. The story also plays into the get with a rich person and all your problems dissappear trope which is sorta problematic.
Otherwise the story was cute and satisfying to read.
