I bought this solely because one of the titular characters is called Aniya and that's my cousin's daughter's name (when she's older I'd love to give it to her). But it is very sweet! Express and Aniya are both girls that we all know in some way or another and I loved getting to see through their eyes for a day (if you've read it you'll know).

I read this as I was in a reading slump and needed a cute quick read to get me back in the swing of things and had absolutely zero preconceptions or any clue about the plot what so ever. And I was pleasantly surprised by this novella. While I am aware that the targeted age demographic are those slightly younger than me (young teens) I still really enjoyed this.

One thing I did not expect was the acknowledgement of privilege those who are wealthy have, and how often people ate discriminated against simply due to their class. In its self its a subtle way of depicting to younger teens about how you never know someone's home life/situation. That being said, as someone who is working class, before the epilogue I felt as though the author slightly demonised the working class and played on stereotypes, I don't think the epilogue fully redimed this but I do think it slightly helped.

This was basically a cutie anti-classist Freaky Friday retelling, and you know what, I lowkey loved it.

This was such a cute short story about black sisterhood and friendship. Lovely read.
