Okay, yes, I gave in and read this to see what all the hype was about. Yes - it's a fast read. Yes - it's a super easy summer read because there is no actual thought that goes into the reading (or apparently the writing) of this book. As a result, I can see why the masses are enjoying it. No - it is not anything close to what I would actually spend money on, or what I would use space on a bookshelf to have. Ranks right up there with the Twilight series. Ugh.

There is an element of shock value, I suppose, but I wasn't surprised by anything in there, to be honest. I have heard too many people tell me "OMG...people do this stuff?" Yes, they do. I wasn't really shocked or amazed by any of it - not my thing, but it does exist in the world. Seriously, people... If you are going to spend time reading, read something with a bit more substance. Please.

This is a fanfiction. I don’t care what E L James or the publisher says. This is a twilight fanfiction. In fact, I think it’s absolutely laughable she would try to deny it since they act exactly the same as the characters they’re patterned after in the other work.
This is not to say there is anything wrong with fanfiction, in fact, I’ve read a lot of great fanfiction that deserves to be published more than whatever this was.
This was not a good piece of fiction. Period. Full stop. The plot dwindles off about halfway through the book, where all momentum also stops. It’s funny in parts it shouldn’t be, but at least it was good for a laugh.
The author should also make an effort to pick up a dictionary because if I ever read “oh my” “inner goddess” or “holy *insert expletive here*” it’ll be too soon.
Then of course, there’s what everyone is here for: the sex. Which is definitely not as kinky as everyone thinks or even well written. It reads like someone who watched a lot of porn tried to write a love story, but all they had to work with was cliched tropes, abusive manipulative men, and twilight (which probably isn’t very far from the truth).
As for the ending, good for Anastasia for finally growing a brain after being an idiotic, naive, weak protagonist for the entirety of the novel. Let’s be honest though, we all know she’ll return to this situation for the next book. Sigh.
That’s about 10 hours of my life I’m not getting back. Don’t do this to yourself. Go read literally anything else.

I hate how she uses "inner goddess." Inner Goddess is supposed to give you strength, to connect you with nature and with yourself. Not to spread your legs let guy treat you like his toy even if the contract is still not signed for whole book!

"Finished" this book at page 262...I just cannot even. Life is too short to read books of this caliber.

It's DIRTY. It's not well written. It's cheesy. It's Twilight for adults. But why couldn't I put it down?

Sexy, but incredibly stupid. I've read better fanfic, and at least that was free!

I'll give this book a good 3 stars. I'm not sure that I am going to give up 40 more listening hours of my life/time to read the other two books again. I read this story previously about 10+ years ago and thought it was the best thing out there about domination and submission. I listened to the audio in tandem with and I honestly think that made this experience a lot worst than it would have been if I had just read the book independently. It was extremely cringe to me that Ana called her vagina (her sex). Like that to me just sounds like a child who should not be engaging in any of the activities that are being presented in this book. For what this book is and represents, it was decent and will graciously get my 3 Stars but for those who told me that they hated it and are going to reread it to see if it is different this time around I will tell them not to put themselves through it (I wasted the time for us all)
