Cassey is a hardworking business owner with a tragic origin story that leaves her relationship foundations shaky, causing every relationship she's ever had to keep her from letting them get too close.

Cassey's life is hectic as she struggles to keep business coming to her restaurant on the once lively boardwalk especially since the large hotel at the end of the boardwalk has done everything in its power to take away shuttles that bring tourists to the boardwalk.

Luke on the other hand comes from money and an overbearing family. His family owns the largest hotel on the boardwalk which is slowly overtaking the businesses. So when his father asks him to do anything possible to talk Cassey into selling her restaurant, he isn't expecting to fall for Cassey instantly.

The book had an interesting premise with the tight-knit businesses on the boardwalk and a small business owner taking on the big man. I liked Cassey as the main character and was able to understand where she was coming from in her decisions as she moved forward with her business and her relationship with Luke.

I did however wish there had been more information on Cassey's missing sister which I'm aware is probably in other books in the series.

Last Resort by Jill Sanders was a fast-paced, spicy, small town romance. For me, the pacing was a little too quick at the beginning, but I liked where the story went. I think I could have used a little bit more tension between our lovebirds before they fell (or at least before they admitted the fell) for one another. I felt like there were a lot of characters for such a short span, and development seemed to happen in the turn of a page, rather than progressively throughout. I liked the characters, but the stakes felt relatively low, whether that was due to the pacing of the story, or that there was a lack of tension all together. That being said, this was still an entertaining read that I finished as quickly as the plot flowed. If you like small town romances, this is probably right up your alley, especially if you like a number of spicy scenes throughout.

I love how this book can show you that even if you have a bad start in life it only takes 1 kind hearted person to show you love and put you on the right path.

Cassy and Luke make a lovely couple. I love how Luke stands up to his father. this as a great read.

This one was a freebie that I got on audio.

When a big hotel comes to the boardwalk where Cassie's business is located, a lot of the family businesses go under. Luke is supposed to impress his dad by getting Cassie to sell her place to him but he ends up forgoing that cause to spend time with her.

This was a quick, light romance.

Not my favorite book by this author. I felt like her other series were well-written and had a good developed story.

I enjoyed this book but it was average. I was expecting more struggle within the main character because of her past. I have no interest in continuing the series.

With Last Resort we get Cassey's story. The last child rescued essentially making her the baby of the family. She is a strong woman that has overcome a terrible beginning, but it's not left her bitter or hard. I am sure that's all thanks to the amazing love she's received from the Graytons and her siblings. She works hard and has always dreamed of running the restaurant/club that has been in her family for years. Her aunt has passed away and now it's Cassey's turn to make her mark on the legacy gifted to her by her family legacy. The problem is her business isn't thriving as much as it did in the beginning and she's guess something was wrong.

Luke a hard worker man, is ethical, and has a really good heart. After losing his brother Luke was basically thrown into the position that his brother previously occupied as heir to the family legacy. The problem was he didn't particularly want or like his new role. His father was not the easiest of men and didn't have any of his son's ethics or kindness. This was made more than apparent when he set his sights on Cassey's business and gave Luke orders to get her to sell.

But there romance boomed an the stories of her and her siblings came to light and that changed Luke and soon he make his father realised what they gonna miss if things they did the way they are going to do in the township. Luke and Cassey were perfect together. They just seemed like a comfortable and sweet unit from the go. I can't wait to read more about the Grayton family
