This is early Wodehouse. So half the book falls under the "public school fiction" genre, with lengthy descriptions of cricket matches, and a lot of Mike wandering around brooding and being boring.

But half the book is Wodehouse To Be. Psmith is a fantastic character, and when he's around (along with a couple comic scenes) the book sparkles and you see the real author emerging--finding his voice. So it's an interesting book in that.

Definitely worth reading, but speed-read past the damned cricket.

A re-read of an old favourite.
