Marshmallow follows 5 friends and their journey towards the anniversary of a tragic event that happened a year prior. As a reader you are given a front row seat to each of the characters and can truly feel the pain, hurt, confusion and a plethora of other emotions as they try to figure out how they will deal with “the day.”

Hannan’s writing is beautifully crafted and it keeps the reader captivated throughout. My heart truly hurt as the story unfolded and it became clear what had occurred. I cried ugly sobs as the book concluded - I squeezed my loved ones a little tighter too.

This book is truly a masterpiece.

gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

i didn't have many expectations going into reading this. my first hannan book was kokomo, which wasn't what i expected and not quite my cup of tea. but i loved marshmallow.

victoria hannan is a master of structure. the way her stories unfold is exquisite. the way each character's stories and perspectives are told, just *chef's kiss*

this is a beautiful exploration of grief: how it affects people differently, and how they deal with grief differently. an utterly, devastatingly beautiful story that revolves around five people and their tender friendships with each other. 4/5.

A heartbreaking but beautiful book dealing with grief and it’s many stages and facets.

An amazing second novel after a brilliant debut by Hannan with Kokomo.
