the only horrifying things in this book are the excessive ableism and an unnecessary sexual assault scene which are both handled terribly.

I was actually a little disappointed when I saw this was one full length story and not multiple shorts, I’ve really come to love LaRocca’s shorter work. They pack such a punch in so few pages and it’s delicious! This one was still excellent but the longer form felt a little too long, it lacked the snappy punch of their other work and I missed it.

Eric LaRocca is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
From page one, I find myself deeply invested in the world, the characters, and the mystery. It's difficult to put the book down again, and before you know it, you have devoured 100pg in one setting!

I didn't quite gel with the book. For most parts the book felt like it was two separate books packed in one.
The two storylines that the blurb mentions run separately for a very long time.
I would have liked to see more exploration of the supposed "cult". There was so much that could be done with the character of Mr Crowley. I would not have minded adding a few more pages to the length of this book just so that we could understand the motivation of the character.
Either I missed something big while reading the book or I didn't understand the plot properly. But the whole story felt quite fragmented to me. Several isolated events are mentioned in the books, without any connecting thread. This made the reading experience a bit jarred. "Where is all this going?" - something that accompanied me throughout the book.
The story needed to be more cohesive and maybe then it could have charmed me.
