Decent read
Not my favorite behavioral economics book, but it was all right. It was very focused on “how to think like a freak” which I found kind of annoying after a while.

Skimmed because the writing is annoying; the takeaways are similar to what you learn about giving a shit about people and seeing social organisation through ethnographic eyes (all good things)

I wish I could give 3.5 stars. As an avid consumer of all things Freakonomics (books, podcasts, movie, blog), I learned that this third book, narrated by the charming Steven Dubner, is exactly what I expected it to be...and nothing more.
I feel like too much of the material is recycled, and the introductions to each chapter spend some time quickly rehashing topics from the podcast and previous books, using those as jumping boards into slightly different topics. It's everything that makes Freakonomics so appealing, yet I feel other "Freaks" like myself feel like we've heard a lot of these stories before.
I can't quite say I'm disappointed, at least not in the book itself. I was just expecting something...different. I hope other readers can identify with me.

Such a quick and good read. The authors do challenge you think differently -or like a freak-and share incredibly interesting and memorable stories to drive the point home. Will probably reread this one often!
This was fine - nothing too exciting. Haven't actually read the authors' other works, so maybe I would have liked it better if I had?
Definitely an enjoyable book, but I feel like I've already heard most of the stories and information from episodes of the Freakonomics podcast

The anecdotes are familiar if you're a podcast listener, but it's such an easy, engaging read that it's fun anyway. Worth reading and applying to pretty much anything you're hoping to better understand about the world.
