If you enjoyed their previous books, Freakonomics and Superfreakonomics, this one will not disappoint. It is one of those books that really makes you think in totally new ways on well-covered topics, it goes beyond their previous writings and shows you how to look at situations differently and how you can take advantage of certain situations in your own life. Very interesting read.
Overall I don't think it was very original, but I enjoyed reading about all the experiments and it was certainly a nice read.
I love the Freakonomics podcast and I'm so glad I picked this up!! This was so interesting and makes me excited to read the other books soon!
The Freakonomics books are always fun, this one seemed a bit slight, though. 30% of the book was footnotes, acknowledgements, and source credit.
A bit short on content. Not a lot of new ideas compared to the earlier books / the first book.
I've been thinking about thinking lately, and 'Think Like a Freak' is a good intro to how to do some of that.
In a series of light weight books this is by far the lightest. There are some interesting ideas in here but none are fleshed out enough to really be considered satisfactory. In terms of the studies it feels I've there are more discussions about the first two books than there is original material. I truly feel like the ideas in this book could be summed up in about 10 pages and the reader wouldn't miss much.
Every insight/story was recycled pretty much verbatim from the podcast, so that's pretty disappointing.
If you haven't listened to the podcast for the past year or so you'd get much more out of this book.

Like Freakonomics and SuperFreakonomics, Think Like a Freak was well written. I found it rather light on new content. Due to the dearth of new content, I wouldn't recommend Think Like a Freak for readers of Freakonomics and SuperFreakonomics, or listeners of the Freakonomics podcast.
