The switching of POV was hard for me to follow at first, but as the story went on i was able to keep up. This story was spooky, uncomfortable, and poignant. I loved the folklore that became a big part of the plot and I felt like I got to know all of the characters pretty well. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but worth the read.

I don't usually need trigger warnings when I read, but if you are someone who does, check those out first.
This book is about horrible things happening to kids. Every page and every character deals with, from some angle or another, child sexual abuse. You're in the head of everyone but very little abuse actually happens on page. It's mostly implied or off page but spoken about directly. There's no graphic detail. For such a heavy and disturbing topic, it was still a well written (if dated) read that showed the horrors of such abuse and how one can fall prey to the myriad of evils in the act, and how evil begets evil. It feels weird to say that it was an enjoyable read because, again, the topic is awful. However, it was still interesting to see where the action took the characters and see how all the threads were pulled together.
