Alice the Dagger is the first book in the Wonderland Courts. This was also part of the Once Upon a Fairytale Night anthology. I love retellings but this was incredible. You have all of the original characters, but Ashley completely made completely her own! The worldbuilding was incredible! Kind Of reminds me of American McGee's version of Alice. Definitely different from my normal reads, but definitely need more!

This was a fun and interesting retelling of Alice in Wonderland. I liked Alice from the start, strong, determined and fierce ... good at heart despite her upbringing by the Vampire Lord. That upbringing also gives her the strength and good part of the skill set needed to hell the Fae of Wonderland.

Looking forward to the next book!

I received this as an Advance Reader Copy from Booksprout with the hopes I would like it and review it.

Honestly i enjoyed this more than i expected! The story was funny with a lot of cute side characters and running jokes. There was great plot development and the story subverted my expectations a few times. The main love interest is actually a super loveable character with a good slow burn ramp up which i feel is pretty rare. It also added a ton of Alice in wonderland references so it’s obvious McLeo knows her source material well which was great

There were a couple of minor plot holes and cliches / very expectable plot devices here and there. I also did feel like the action left a little to be desired and felt a bit rushed. But overall i really enjoyed the book and will most likely read the next one!

It's hard to write a witty, mouthy FMC that doesn't come off as annoying and I think Ashley McLeo dropped the ball with this Alice. She wasn't too bad, but her remarks rubbed me the wrong way - they didn't feel genuine to a hot headed woman, they felt forced and unfunny. Besides that, I didn't mind Alice but I also didn't particularly care for her either.

I also received a bunch of ARC's and other series. This didn't really grab my attention from the get-go so I just fell off the wagon and decided to pursue other things. This book isn't inherently bad, just mid. So far I'd give it like 3 stars

I’m not going to lie, this book has put me into a reading slump. But nevertheless, here’s my review:

This book follows Alice Queenly and her journey to defeat the Red Queen. Along the way she makes new friends and allies.

The writing for this book seemed like a wattpad book if given an editor. It had a weird flow but a very enjoyable storyline. Overall: 3/5 stars.

A nice flip on the original tale, with plenty of old and new phrases.
Lots of tropes in this! The chosen one, lost royalty, orphan raised as an assassin, childhood friends to lovers, lost friend to lover. If you love the first few Throne of Glass books by Sarah J Mass then you’ll love this one! <\spoiler>
