I nearly cried at the end, and it’s been a long time since a book effected me like that. I loved Kenna and her character development and empathized with ledger. This book really made me think about forgiveness and moving on from tragedy.
My favorite quote: funny how something that Should feel so good can feel so painful when the circumstances aren’t right. And our circumstances are definitely not right. But i squeeze his hand anyway, letting Him know I’m feeling exactly what he’s feeling, and I’m just as torn as he is.

it really irked me (and borderline ruined the book) that none of the characters recognized kenna as a human being with emotions unless their assumption of what scotty wanted and their assumption of who he was was emphasized. like how did none of them in five years never stop and consider she lost him too? or that there could be more to the story? everyone in this book was incredibly judgmental - to a fault. grace, patrick, and even ledger were completely insufferable most of the time, and even kenna was pretty hard to deal with at certain points. diem (stupid name aside) was such a ray of sunshine, same with lady diana and roman. the resolution felt rushed and unbelievable. grace and patrick spent five years hating kenna so fiercely and all it took was a letter, one night of sleep, and a dinner for them to be over it? same for ledger. because he’s turned on by her he just gets over his preconceived idea that she killed his best friend. maybe it’s a characterization problem because… what the heck? i cant deny that i couldn’t put it down once i started though.
not the worst colleen hoover book i’ve read but certainly not the best.
