It was fun but got a little boring towards the end.
I really like the opening chapters, the "getting to know everyone" part of the book. The setting/characters were very charming and the author is a great descriptive writer.
The focus on politics was a nice touch, in my opinion. It made the story feel very real, which is a feat for a book about Kaiju.
While I'm on the topic of Kaiju I wanted to say: I wish there were more! As previously mentioned, the author is great at descriptions; so why did he include so few descriptions of the Kaiju? Perhaps it's because he expects us to have a pretty clear image of what a Kaiju is (a Godzilla/dinosaur-like creature).
From my understanding, that is not the case. Yes, the most famous Kaiju is and always will be Godzilla. But what originally drew me to Kaiju in the first place was the surprising diversity in species. Kaiju have famously been moth-like, lobster-like or even human-like!
I wish we saw more diversity and description of Kaiju in this book. There are pretty much 3 names Kaiju that all looked mostly the same. And were ironically uninteresting - this book is called the Kaiju Preservation Society after all! It could have been vastly improved by more "Kaiju" and less "Preservation Society"

You are getting exactly what you think when you pick up this book. It's fun. It's giant monsters from another earth. It's wacky pseudoscience. When you want to just blow through a book and have a great time, you'll want this book in your hands.
