Despite My Curvy Rival being on the shorter side, it excels in its body positivity and telling the story of the budding romance between rival athletes and gym owners. The story was very sweet and fast paced, with some character development. I enjoyed the conversations around health and fitness especially with women and would have loved more of them. Jazz as a character was fun and refreshing to read, but did sometimes annoy me with ther lack of communication.
I am rating the book 3 stars due to the conflictFMC Jazz was not honest about her relationship with both brothers and I was not the biggest fan of the romantic interest, Leo. That being said, I will keep an eye out for Leigh Carron's future works.

Just because this book is less than 200 pages don’t let that fool you. This books was so freaking good! I love that there was a plus sized female main character. I loved that she was so confident with her size and she truly just embraced that she was a bigger girl. This book was so so spicy which really shocked me. I figured it was gonna have a little bit of spice nope talk about HOT HOT HOT 🥵

Jazz opened a body positivity gym for women only. Leo has a different perspective of exercise in his gym. They become rivals with a deep, passionate connection. Enjoyed reading this age gap romance with sibling conflict and mutual desire! A must read!

I really liked the FMC and the body positivity aspect, but I didn't like the MMC at all. I also feel like it was too insta-lovey, especially when they're supposed to be rivals. I did not enjoy this one as much as I hoped.

Rival gym owners to lovers. Jazz runs a gym baded on invlusicity and joyful movement, where Leo runs a regimented peogramme with goals and measurements.
There were some things I really liked about this novella. I loved Jazz's approach to fitness as something that's fun and for everyBODY. I loved her as a character, being so care free yet determined. I would love to attend one of her fitness classes (voltage vixens sounds INCREDIBLE).
My main issue was that I detested Leo. I think he just reminded me of every gym-bro-instagram-fitness-personal-trainer who demonises food and says things like "sweat is fat crying". My dissertation was a critical discourse of food restriction for the purpose of weight loss on instagram (and its links to disordered eating) and he just reminded me of the accounts I spent hours reading through. He did not sufficiently grow to redeem himself in my eyes. He gets slight points for his drawer of sex toys because we appreciate a man who understands that isn't his competition.
I also thought there were too many little things included for a novella. 170 pages just isn't enough to tackle the main relationship, plus a dance career, brother relationship, a dead mum, and an absent father. It all just felt a little rushed.
All this being said, this was an enjoyable enough read and I loved having a fat positive, pink obsessed FMC.

Very spicy. It was okay but it moved super fast and they moved in together a week after meeting by their own free will. The writing was also a little cringey. I did like how confident the fmc was but I really believe the mmc did not like her and thought she was crazy. Idk it was fine.

The writing is excellent, but would have preferred more description during long conversations. Fat rep was done beautifully. Grumpy sunshine can’t miss. I’m learning I don’t like rivals to lovers, but I’m not docking any points for that.
