As both a player and a fan of dungeons & dragons, I am obviously biased.

However, it must be said that I was pleasantly surprised with both the writing and the plot.

Part of a series, will need to read the next part.

I really liked the parts of this book that were not about the main character...i wanted him to die...hated him. I really did not like his Danica either...when she smashed her face against the rock i was glad. I really liked the druids and the imp though. oh and the mummy...mummies are always good.

Canticle is a good story in a good setting. It tells the tale of Cadderly, a young boy priest, and his endeavors to right the injustices he experiences. Canticle is not mind-blowing. Canticle is not awe-inspiring. Canticle is interesting and worth a read.

I really enjoyed the fact that the story is set in an institution of learning (The Eidificant Library) where we could explore ideas that are at the forefront of the realm's technology, yet it was not presented in a mundane fashion.

Slow start, faster towards the end. Still enjoyed it.

First half is a bit slow due to world building. Second half was full of twists and turns! I really enjoyed this and the last 25% of this book really had me on the edge of my seat!
