I don't think I've ever had such ambivalent feelings about a book like this one. At least, none come to mind spontaneously. On one hand, it was forbidden, and on the other hand, the feelings of the main characters completely overwhelmed me. I was always torn between this is wrong, Phoenix is still so young, is this right, can it be like this? But that was probably also due to their obsession with each other. One thing I can say, they found each other, had to make difficult decisions to finally get their happy ending. From me, it gets a recommendation.
Im sorry but I’m glad it’s over. I just did not care.
Phoenix annoyed me 90% of the time.
Also it’s so wild that this man named his baby after his “boyfriend” at the times father. The boy that he technically was having an affair with. Yikes.
Phoenix annoyed me 90% of the time.
I very much enjoyed this book. It's one of the best I've read in the past year. It's about Phoenix, an eighteen year old high school student, and his teacher Sebastian falling in love. But, I think it's about more than that. It's really about two people attracted to each other’s pain and intellect. They both had a real love for deep thought and philosophy. The both have demons and a lot of turmoil ensues in their developing relationship. The author was superb in capturing emotions in words such that the reader could really feel them. The writing is lyrical and poetic at times. One of my favorite lines is: "He circled in place, lost. And, once again, the light of the moon only had eyes for him. I felt envious that it got to touch him." Phoenix's relationships with his best friends and mother added a lot to the story. It was fascinating to see the sense of loyalty that the threesome of friends had for each other. Phoenix is very lovable character, so mature, intelligent, and loving. Sebastian was harder for me to love. I found him to be jealous, deceitful by omission, and punishing at times. If you can get past the taboo subject of the book, it is an excellent and enjoyable read.

DNF. Books with philosophy as majority topic of the books just aren’t for me. Found this out after reading two books with philosophy as the common theme.
Unfortunately this is not for me for this reason.

The writing itself is good, a few spelling issues not a lot. It was kind of boring really, and there was no sexual chemistry. If you are looking for hot sex, skip this one, the sex was meh and not very descriptive.
I must confess that I purchased and started reading this book without reading the blurb. The cover art and title pulled me in - and, okay, I thought at first that the title referred to a boy loving "Wicked" - the play.
It was such a wonderfully constructed story that even though my first thoughts were miles off base, I kept reading. I didn't want to put it down!
It is definitely one of the best gay romance stories I have ever read.
