I don't really know what to think of this book. It's quite short and easy to read, but I didn't think it was quite remarkable. It is a story about a mother's love, yet something was missing.

3 1/2 stars.

what a lovely read! picked this book up on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I love a good myth retelling and this was no exception. Short and lighthearted but full of melancholy, this portrayal of grief is quite sublime

This was very pretty and I liked the fairy-tale nature of it, but (to me) it lacked much substance.

Quick re-telling, but I didn't like at as much as I hoped I would. Still enjoyed it though. Some great illustrations, others I didn't really care about.

I enjoyed this, but I'm not entirely sure I understood it. While I could follow most of the adventure, the ending didn't quite make sense to me. Hmm. Might have to reread part of the end.

My goodness, this book was beautiful.

After a rash of 3-star books, what a joy to find this one.

A simple fairytale, just over 200 pages. The story is simple, the writing like poetry. The illustrations by Bonnie Helen Hawkins are soke of the most beautiful I have seen.

I loved this book.

My only complaint is that I wish it could have been longer.

I wanted a book that gave faerie vibes, and I got a book with faerie vibes. Turns out I don't really like books with faerie vibes. Still, for what this was and if you liked what this promised, I think you would definitely like this book.
