I cried so much reading this book.
Great for a book club submission.

This one stunned me. Made me happy to be born an American, but I liked how much I learned about Afghanis. [return][return]Traces the unlikely friendship of a wealthy Afghan youth and a servant's son, in a tale that spans the final days of Afghanistan's monarchy through the atrocities of the present day.

Heartbreaking. Brutal. I kept internally yelling “what is the point of all this?!?” but I guess that’s the point, right? To raise questions…Life…it’s messy and unfair. Some people are good and some are evil…and it doesn’t make sense. This book broke my heart over and over but my main take away was that it’s never too late to do the right thing. You don't have to stay in the past—let yourself grow and change. Highly recommend.

I really loved the audio on this one. I feel like the narrator really helped the cultural differences stand out for me because I wasn’t reading in my own voice. Definitely recommend audio or immersive reading for this one!

Really good book with a really horrible story. Traumatizing read

I cried. Over and over for this one. It was one of the most emotional ones I have ever read in my life... I was and i am still so very very angry at Amir for all the cowardice he had within him and how and why he couldn't stand up for the one who was true to him when he said "For you, a thousand times over"...

Hassan and Sohrab moved me so very greatly that I'm going to keep thinking about it for a very long time from now.

Loved this book...

absolutely great from start to finish, but also really sad and reallife stories but very well written.

A pretty tough read. Brilliantly written but pretty devastating. I can’t remember reading a book where I had such a strong dislike towards the narrator as in the first half of this book.
