Non Pratt perfectly captures the tone, humour and characters of Giant Days, and I would definitely read more books in this world written by her! It was exactly what I expected and hoped for, and now I just want to re-read all the comics again...

I LOVE the Giant Days graphic novels and always make sure to read the latest one! I love the friendship and antics of Susan, Esther, and Daisy, so when I saw there was a novelization of the story I had to check it out!

I was hoping for a new story from the point of view of our three lovely university pals, but it goes over a story we’ve seen before from the earlier graphic novels. While I would’ve liked to see a fresh story, I’m not complaining because it allowed me to get further into the story and really get into Susan, Esther, and Daisy’s head in a way that you can’t in a graphic novel. So I really enjoyed this!

I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
3 1/2 STARS
I've read other books from Non Pratt so was intrigued as to if I could recognise her style within a book that is more commonly known as a respected Graphic Novel series. As I have not read any of the graphic series I can not compare how closely she follows any of the original characters or stories.
The story follows American university friends , Esther, Daisy and Susan. Esther, a Goth is trying desperately to become friends with the other class goth, Daisy combats her social anxieties by signing up to every club going and Susan struggles to move on from her past. Of coarse, even with all their differences they are friends with hilarious and heart warming moments.
Im not sure if it was because I read an ARC but I found it hard to read this book at the beginning, it was a bit bitty, too quick and random, this may also be because of its Graphic Novel roots.
Although I have given this book 3 stars (probably closer to 3.5 but I couldn't bring myself to hit 4 stars) I will buy this book for my secondary school library and recommend it to students as Non has a wonderful ability to make everyone feel included whatever their situation or un - conventuality.

This was fine. It was enjoyable because I know and love the characters from the comic books, but without the artwork, the story was missing an important part for me and I found it lackluster because of that.

I enjoyed this, but I found it very unrealistic. I'm at a British university myself, and I really don't think any of this crap would have ever happened at my uni. A cult? Fuck off, that's impossible, that would not have got through the Guild of Student's regulations for forming a society. Susan pissed me off to no end, and no girl is as pretty as Esther without necking it on the dancefloor at least once. Daisy starts uni before she turns 18, I know nobody who did that, and anyone that fucking naïve deserves to be conned out of all their money.

Points off for picking Sheffield Uni over Birmingham too.

This is set back in the beginning of the comics, so it took me a bit to get back in the swing of things, but I really liked it!

Whilst I haven't read all the comics that this novel is based from, this book stands alone. Its such a relief to have a book about university. I feel like there is such a gap in the market. As with all of Non's previous works, the characters are amazing and I immediately connected with them. I loved the first half, but felt the second half was too rushed, and felt like its purpose was more to tie up loose ends.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a really fun time and a great introduction to these characters if you have never read the comics, which was my experience. I loved the relationship between the girls and I really enjoyed reading about their different paths and experiences. They each had their own distinct personality and I was very interested in what they would do next.

I do wish they had a few more meaningful interactions with their classmates and I feel like the ending wrapped up to quickly and too neatly. That, however did not take away from the fact that I thought it was a really fun read!

I adore the Giant Days graphic Novels and this was a nice addition to the already beloved series. I really enjoyed how it took place before the first Giant Days volume we got to see the characters I believe more fleshed out. They were very sympathetic and relatable.

Lovers of the graphic novel will still enjoy this and even those who haven’t had the pleasure will still find Esther, Daisy and Susan great protagonists to read about.
