Although Benedict's story is a modern retelling of Cinderella, I had a lot to learn from this story including the fact that we should cherish chance encounters more, for they are rare as they are magical. Sophie is strong and righteous female main character, who is always cheery despite having the worst circumstances that life can throw at her. I loved how she always stood by her values, even when Benedict asked her to be his mistress at the beginning. She has never once felt that she was entitled to the life of aristocracy and does everything to make her life better for herself. On the other hand, Benedict is a character that I struggled to like for a while. His remarks often seem unnecessarily mean, something that I did not expect after watching the Netflix series. Overall, this read touched on an important social issue that is still prevelant in today's society - love between different social classes. It is something that is frowned upon and treated as fodder for gossip, even in today's day and age.

Super cute story its a re write if cinderella so if your not into that not for you but if you love that kinda thing like me you will love this book

Just a warning that Benedict is nothing like the sweet gentleman on the shows. Book Benedict has anger issues. It started well and then the story kind of fell flat. Would have loved to see more tension build up before they got together
