I've been pulling books of my shelves during Corona that have sat there for years unread. This was one of them, given to me 15 years ago. A great true cime read involving the killing of a cop by another cop, and the cover up orchestrated by Spokane police officers to protect the guilty until a small town Sheriff decides to solve it. Always fun to read books set in your city, and this one includes a lot of fascinating local history.

Timothy Egan has become a well-known story-teller of local and historical lore. This book was particularly interesting to me since I live very close to where it took place. As a matter of fact, one of the supporting characters in the book, the man who threw "the gun" into the river, was a friend's father.
