At first I was wondering where a book about a piece of gum would lead, the answer was something that I found both inspiring, informative and relfective. I felt like every chapter of this book was well thought out, and the more you learn about the gum and the process - the more you are learning bits about the author himself. I also felt like the story telling provided glimpses into the magic which we may all experience, if we are open to it and how deeply symbolic day to day items can be in our lives.

My only criticism is that at times it did feel like there was a lot of name dropping, sometimes this was relevant to future references and sometimes it felt like maybe not so much. The weaving and intertwining of two different lives and experiences in one book was an interesting one, but can see how some may find that hard to follow and sythesize into the relevant themes.
