Michelle Obama does so many things right and book writing is definitely one of them ✨ She manages to keep her inspiring and upbeat energy that was very present in her previous book Becoming, but didn’t repeat all of the same things (and made very thoughtful references back to it which was refreshing) 😊 These were two of the most striking quotes for me:

‘My mom says that you should grant kids their trust rather than making them earn it.’

‘What we choose to share in professional settings, what we show of ourselves and when, is not only personal but also inherently complicated – an often delicate matter of timing, circumstance, and careful judgement.’

I would definitely say to read Becoming first, but to get this for sure if you’re a fan of the former FLOTUS 🥰 The light we carry, eh ✨

Not only does Michelle Obama express her own feelings about parenting, partnership, family life, and being human but she does it all with so much calmness and grace. This book has helped me take a step back and navigate my relationships and parenting and allowed me to reflect on who I am. She is very insistent that this is not a self help book but instead a book about her life and the lessons she learned and how others can take from that. Beautiful and inspiring!
