I think a refreshing read after so many back to back books about theory and art culture. Those are not books i can read 100 pages in a sitting. Not even 50 or 20 sometimes. I didnt realize how extreme the fatigue and digestion were

I thought this book would be a little bit more refreshing in terms of the current dialogue around autism, but hey, I think it does a lot for the year it came out. Maybe i feel this way because there is a lot for me to resonate with christopher and not a lot of it feels like its very nuancing. There were also parts where i felt polarized from christopher. I guess thats the point. Im not sure if this book was written for allistics or autistics. I feel like the former

I really liked the narrative perspective as I don’t think I’ve ever read a book from the perspective of an autistic kid before so it was quite interesting to see. I would have given it more stars but I pretty much predicted everything that happened like his mum not really being dead and his dad killing the dog... it was so obvious! Really enjoyed the storyline and the insight into this narrative though!

A lovely book, focusing on a young protagonist whose perception of the world is unknown and heartwarming, wrapped in the form of a murder mystery.

A fascinating and somewhat alien view of everyday life from the perspective of someone who thinks and sees the world quite differently from me.

The story was quite sad in places, often because of the frustrating way people around the protagonist seemed to be unwilling to even try and understand or communicate effectively with him.

I was put off by a few aspects of the writing, such as frequent rambling irrelevant descriptions (often patronising or overly definite), and the constant use of "and then". But I was impressed by the quality of the audiobook version, which had several characters voiced by different actors.
