Great read, maybe a little long and maybe a little convoluted with all the characters but I didn't have any problems following the story. I would have liked to see some of the women in the story portrayed as decent human beings though and I have to say I wanted to kick Sam in the balls for his explanation around his break up with Gabi, but I still heart the guy :-) I'm going to be on tenderhooks waiting for book 3!

Enjoyed this. I liked the progress of the guys' relationship. The serial killer plot is ongoing. I like the way the author has done the crime/suspense plot. Looking forward to the next book!

I was really surprised when I saw that this book was from 2013 and not 2009 because it really reads old fashioned.
I still don't like Sam and Mac big reveal was really disappointing

Holy crap part 2!! Book two is just as thrilling and gut clenching as book one! Donovan maintains the tension, both romantic and suspense, throughout the book and ends on yet another cliffhanger. Except this time I don’t have a book three to jump right into and it’s going to kill me waiting!!!

Book two picks up about ten seconds after book one ends. Mac and Sam have made a breakthrough in their relationship but there is yet to be a real breakthrough in the serial killer case. More puzzle pieces come together making the title of this book perfect. But the tension of the suspense story is still that continually tightening rubber band in my gut.

Mac and Sam’s story has some very interesting twists and turns, some of which I expected, others I didn’t. The relationship crisis moments make you hold your breath but are ultimately satisfying, though still in HFN range as there are some big personal hurdles ahead to be dealt with. I didn’t know there was yet another book to come so the closer I got to 90% without significant movement the more nervous I became. By 95% I realized that the story arc isn’t done and I’d be anxiously awaiting a book three damnit!

I was personally pleased to see that some of my guesses from book one re the suspense story were on the nose and am pretty sure others will be confirmed in book three. Still lots of great red herrings (or clues) scattered in this book as well. Donovan writes a hell of a suspense story and great relationships. Not just romantic relationships either. The friendships in this book are wonderfully done as well. And I am hoping we’ve also seen the groundwork laid for some future romantic relationships to be explored.

The suspense story works along a great arc, though man I wish it moved faster because I’m dying to get to the end of it! There are some interesting developments that tie some things from book one in. I’m intrigued as to how things will spin out into the third book as the FBI seems to be closing in on the killer. I can’t wait to read that book. Strongly recommend.

**I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion.**

I love these books, but hate having to wait to see what happens next.
