Though the writing is nothing compared to that of A Dowry of Blood, there are still some notable lines scattered throughout this 81-page novella. I rarely read novellas, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I did enjoy the magic and the couple's two types of witchiness, but the storyline was kind of cheesy, and I was conflicted about how I felt about the main characters throughout the whole thing. I thought their relationship was super sweet, and I'm sure there's some sort of big life lesson that I can't be bothered to put words to. I'm going to end this review by saying, damn does S.T. Gibson know how to write a freakin good steamy scene, even when it's half a page long.

I'll be honest, I mostly read this book because I'm really excited for Evocation to come out next month and I wanted a taste of the characters, and in that sense, this did not disappoint!! I love Rhys and Moira, and while I didn't like David per se, I think he's got the potential to be a really interesting character. While this story was admittedly a little underwhelming (and the biphobia being used for a cheap twist was not great), I'm definitely looking forward to getting more of all three of these characters!!

Update: I think I finished this literally the day before S.T. Gibson announced that Odd Spirits is being rereleased in October, so I'm now excited to read it all over again, and I'm sure I'll have more thoughts when I do.

This was such a good book and it had a great message in it! I won’t say what it is but if this book at all interest you please pick it up. It’s short, very thought out and perfect for this time of year.

Would've been 5 stars if Drake hadn't been mentioned.

Simply lovely. Rhys and Moira are an excellently crafted couple. Their insecurities mingled with deep love and respect for each other is not only beautiful, but true to life. The imagery is vivid. Every scene is vibrant. And it is so nice to see representations of different magical practices. This is an exquisite little book. Well done.
