This was not at all a light read. While I don't think anything in this book couldn't or wouldn't happen, due to the graphic nature of the stories, I won't recommend this one. A book can be award-winning and, at the same time, not universally laudable. As the content was personally disturbing, I do not plan on continuing the series.

An engaging read for the current times. The parallels between the real world and the events in the book are at times scary though the realistic details is what made it almost impossible to put down.

I absolutely loved the midwife. Finally a character facing a dystopian society who is realistic and (mostly) selfish in order to survive. I also enjoyed the narrative style with the diaries. A great read, but be aware of explicit and graphic scenes.

I read this book quickly- the story was captivating. I didn’t always love the writing, particularly when it came to the journal entries of the main character. The subject matter hits a little too close to home in the year 2020 but if you can stomach that, it’s a decent read!
