Really captivating. Has some shades of Rebecca. The story is continued in book 2, not quite a cliff hanger, but lots of questions remain unanswered.

Ivy had no prospect and she now has to live with her dead cousin’s husband only through his goodwill.
Julian Markham, twice widowed both with questionable circumstances involving how they died. A man with a particular taste and a mysterious house, some may even say cursed.
I am giving this a 3.5⭐️rating while spice gets a 4🌶️ rating. This is a good introduction to the series and the did he or did he not murder his previous wives plot is definitely something I am intrigued about.
Will I continue the series? Heck yeah!

CW death of a loved one
This is a promising start to a series. Think Mr. Rochester vibes, but spicy 😂
Advanced warning, this is very insta-lovey. My personal preference tends to veer away from instalove, HOWEVER, there's still some pining and some push and pull there. I do think this would have benefited hugely with a dual POV as opposed to a single POV. POVs from the tortured, dark and brooding characters, offer a much greater insight into their behaviours and feelings which you just don't get from a secondary view through the POV of whatever character the book is being told from.
However, I love Sierra Simone and I look forward to seeing what she does in the next few books to get me to *see* that development in Julian, without having his POV. I trust her, and I'm crossing my fingers that it works. 🤞
