this was so good! I've never read a historical erotica before and now I want to find them all and read them

this had such deliciously dark and gothic undertones and such erotic scenes it made a perfect mix.
There is also this mystery in the background that slowly makes itself the center of the story...and adds a healthy dose of fear to the story that just makes it irresistible.

Deliciously dark & steamy retelling of the gothic classic, Jane Eyre. Move over Mr Rochester, Mr Markham doesn’t mess around. Loved it! Not your typical historical romance. Although is a few years old, this deserves way more attention & hype. A smidge too insta-love but who am I to judge these severely repressed Victorian creatures. Very well written and truly does have those eery, overcast and cold vibes of the original. Good plot too with interesting side characters & a bit of a mystery going on as well. On to book 2 immediately!

There was a lot to like about this book. I got caught up in the mystery of Violet's death and except for the orgy which I wasn't a fan of, the sex scenes weren't bad. I did not like the cliffhanger though. It was annoying. Probably won't continue the series.

The Bronte’s could never. The hero is the sexiest version Rochester I’ve ever read. These characters are also ancestors of a character in the Thornchapel series.

It was way better than I thought it would be for a short novella. Kind of an historical romance, but way steamier with a lot more kink.
