I WAS CALLING HIM MR GRUMPY MAN BUT HOW WRONG I WAS
I LOVE IT
adult romance books always comfort me because I'm like half their age but I always feel the pressure of having never fallen in love yet and the need to, so it's very comforting to remind myself that it is NO RUSH.
I loved Hogle's debut, and I love her sophomore.....now I need a third.....

I think I read this book in like 2-3 hours ah

Fuzzy feelings all around and lots of tingly hands. This is going straight to the section of comfort reads.

(Was originally thinking of rating it four stars, but what the hell, let’s be generous, this was freaking cute.)

THIS BOOK. IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD. I knew at the half way point that I would be giving it 5 stars. I never really highlight when I’m reading, but I found myself highlighting so many lines that I thought were either funny (“Everything I know about baseball can be traced back to that scene from Twilight.”) or just plain cute (“I am nearly in the clear when my Achilles’ heel is attacked—he’s turned on Christmas music at top volume, sleigh bells riiiiing following me down the stairs.”) throughout the whole thing.

From the start, I loved Maybell, and I really felt for her with the shitty hand she had been dealt recently (I wanted to give Gemma a piece of my mind so damn bad). Her cute little dream world was a coping mechanism I could relate to. When we met Wesley, I was shook by the connection between him and Maybell. Their relationship was sort of an enemies to lovers trope, and I ate it right up. But then we find out that they were never really enemies at all and that Wesley is literally the sweetest human being ever!! The “I don’t hate you,” part? The reveal that there was only one bedroom in the cabin? The drawing? Counting Maybells? I ADORED him. And then it’s revealed that he has severe social anxiety, and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever related to a character so much. I haven’t read many other romances where the hero struggles with anxiety to that scale, and it was refreshing to see how he was portrayed.

All in all, I loved this even more than You Deserve Each Other. Sarah Hogle has such a beautiful writing style, and after this, I am eagerly aticipating her next book!

What a happy little marshmallow of a book!

Single POV. It was a very cute read. Grumpy/Sunshine of sorts. When they actually started flirting with each other it was very cute and cheesy and Wesley is absolutely adorable.  This is a no steam (one very very light descriptive scene), slow burn romance. No 3rd act breakup either. Definitely a good summer/beach/weekend read.
