Loved the fact that this book encourages the reader to go beyond the binary of good/bad and reimagine what their options could be. It's comforting and creative all at once, and opens to door for young minds to ask questions about things they might find troubling or that have been weighing on them. I think this one would be great for slightly older elementary or young middle school ages.

For: readers wanting a book about how the future is full of possibilities, and how they aren't all bad.

Possible red flags: could be difficult to read with its layout.

This story makes me giggle because some of the futures could have come straight from a child's mouth. But most importantly, this story lets you laugh about possibilities that might not always seem so easy or happy or fun.

A great read with the kids to explore beyond black and white, “good or bad”, and “love or hate”. There must be more than that!

You could really have fun with kids after reading this book. You could have them list decisions that are this or that and expand to the idea of, "But wait, there must be more than that." To think that this was written in 2018 and fits 2020 so well--Yoshitake nails it. So many ideas in the book are actually timeless. I especially liked that part that things do not have to be labeled as good or bad. As others have mentioned, I took pause with the grandmother saying she would not be around. She appeared very old, and I wondered if that would be some cause for worry.
