The Widow Clicquot: The Story of a Champagne Empire and the Woman Who Ruled It by Tilar J. Mazzeo

This would have been really interesting as a long read magazine article but as a book it's a bit repetitive and boring. There's not really enough information out there about the widow to fill out a whole nonfiction book. Would love to read the same story as historical fiction.

like, maybe, surely, must have, are not words that make a book especially when they feature on almost every page very lacking as a book and disappointing.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I hated every time the author said "we can imagine" or something along those line since it is just a guess of what actually happened. Overall the story of the widow is very interesting and I learned a lot about Champagne in general. I just wish certain things were more factual.
