I wanted so badly to like this book, and there are lots of things I did like about it. Unfortunately, there are just too many characters and very poor pacing that means all the parts I loved were connected by large swaths of waiting around, and nothing really felt consequential.

I ended up like the fairy stories written by the character Olive better than I liked the main narrative....and there was a lot of main narrative.
