Interesting but not a nonfiction book that will allow me to be a huge nerd to people. I read nonfiction to be right not have interesting tales to tell. I'm obnoxious so this is not my vibe.

As with all of Steven Johnson's work, this book explores the fascinating unintuitive connections throughout history. The story that forms the thread through the book is truly fascinating.

Some interesting factoids about pirates. Author fails to prove this thesis: this attack didn’t change the world.

Very readable.

What a cool work of history! If you're interested in pirates, global commerce, the rise of the modern nation-state and multinational corporation, or 17th-century history, this is for you. A propulsive, informative and accessible read.
