I enjoyed this picture book...my son didn't enjoy it so much.

The basic premise is there's a picture book called "Birthday Bunny" that someone has gone through and scribbled over to rewrite it as "Battle Bunny" . On the cover and throughout the book the text and pictures are marked up to rewrite the sweet tale of a little birthday bunny as an evil little bunny who goes around attacking other creatures.

Admittedly it as kind of weird to read aloud, explaining that someone had rewritten the story...plus my son kept asking why the bunny was "being a bad guy". He couldn't see why someone would want to be the bad guy...ah, will he stay this sweet forever?

I love the idea behind it, but the actual story is really mediocre at best. Just a novelty.

This was such a boy book. The attention to detail and the fun it was to read made me want it for my library.

Brilliant. This is the best picture book, and the way Alex feels is completely how I felt about many picture books when I was young. I LOVE it.

Definitely a unique concept for a book! If the reader has enough patience, it would be most fun to read the 'original' and then the new (and improved?) way. : )
[Overall, however, I didn't have that kind of patience or desire.]

This picture book would be so much fun as a read aloud (original story than the modified one). Also, I can also picture bringing in picture books (maybe older ones or bought at a used book store) and letting the students modify their own! How much fun!

This book made me laugh out loud! What a perfect insight into the mind of a young boy (reminds me of so many doodles I’ve seen on papers over the year!). Also, I was blown away by the creativity of Sceiszka and Barnett. I wish I was teaching in a classroom because it would have been a book that I would have brought into the classroom to share with kids (yes, even my middle schoolers. Actually, definitely my middle schoolers.) because it is just so awesome!
