Glad I bought the latest edition. They re-worked it a fair amount and it’s now far easier to understand now.

Very informative and seemingly logical, I’m excited to try this system. But man this book needs an editor! There are so many mistakes!
A little too traditional/conservative for my taste, but I will try some of their ideas.

This book had a ton of great information, especially regarding getting your baby on a schedule. I started reading this book when my baby was a few weeks old and as soon as I started providing more structure and following the parent directed feeding and feed/wake/nap suggestions, my baby fell into a more predictable schedule and took better daytime naps. A bit of the information in the book was outdated (despite this being an updated 30th anniversary edition) and there were a few typos that were missed.

Some of the information was a few years dated (like thermometer options), but most of the content was super informative and helpful for a new parent like I am. It was wonderful to establish a basis for typical infant behaviors and healthy feeding/sleeping patterns. I also greatly appreciated how inclusive it was, giving helpful information for parents who wish to breastfeed and/or use formula, not dictating to the reader what they should choose for their baby. This book helped alleviate my stress for entering parenthood.

Interesting and quick read, while nothing earth-shattering. Seems to be the same principles in other books, so they seem to be tried & true for a reason.

This book was recommended to me by several mom friends as a "must-read" in preparing for Bean's arrival. I am definitely intrigued by this approach but just not sure how likely it will be to work with our family. A very strict schedule can sound nice in theory but I am just not sure how or if it would work for us in practice. I am glad that I read this and have this information in case we want to try it out but I can definitely see how this wouldn't work for everyone.
I feel like people that gave this one star either did not read the book or misinterpreted/misapplied its suggestions. My sister used the PDF method with her twins and it worked really well for them. I have 2 months before I can try with my own child but from what I read this book provides a guideline for structuring your baby's day and acknowledges that every baby is different and that there are exceptions that one can make, especially if the baby seems ill or inconsolable.
For parents that prefer attachment parenting this is definitely not the book for you and I can understand why you might feel personally attacked but if you approach reading this book with an open mind and understand it's just one of many paths you can follow, I imagine you will find lots of useful tips you can try to implement.
